Anaheim CDA Convention Wrap up
By Brian Benefield
Another CDA convention has come and gone, and it was a terrific success yet again. Clients from North and South visited our booth and were able to see the latest developments of the Datacon software. Version 3.6 continues its rapid evolution and visitors got a sneak peek at the newest features. Recently added to the new charting area is a tool allowing you to enter existing restorations. This tool is a true milestone in the development of the Datacon system.
Those who hadn’t seen v3.6 were able to navigate the tooth charting area with its new, easy to use layout, and improved graphics. They also saw a multitude of updates to the scheduler, a customizable main menu, and an area to easily enter and review a patient’s medical history.
The updated software created quite a buzz and we look forward to updating more and more offices in the coming weeks and months. To those of you unable to make it, we hope to see you in San Francisco in September!

Endodontic Study Group Another Success
By Brian Benefield
On Wednesday, May 27, Datacon hosted a Study Group at the beautiful Santa Rosa Golf and Country Club. The second in a series, this event was attended by doctors and staff from Endodontic practices, with the primary focus being a transition to a paperless office. The various sessions covered subjects such as scheduling, email and digital x-ray integration, referral tracking and communication, electronic consent forms, treatment planning, electronic chart notes and downloading data to Smart Phones. The response was extremely positive and attendees looked forward to participating again at future events! If you are interested in a copy of the material covered at the meeting, we have a binder full of valuable information divided in to eight chapters, and it can be purchased for only $40. Or avoid paper all together and we can email it to you for just $30!
Stay tuned for future Study Groups slated for later this year!

Tired of Spam?
By Jay deLong
Email spam, also known as junk email, is a frustrating reality in the online computer world.
Spammers send more than 100 billion emails per day. This translates to approximately 94% of all email sent.
If you are frustrated by spam and don’t like spending the first five minutes of your day filtering out email offers for “great deals” on Rolex watches or Viagra, we have a solution for you.
Datacon recently teamed up with Red Condor, an award-winning anti-spam protection service company based in Rohnert Park, CA. Red Condor is a leader in the fight against spam, and is continually developing new spam-fighting technologies.
Here are some of the great features provided by Red Condor’s spam filtering service:
- Protection from viruses, spyware, phishing schemes, Trojans, and other dangerous and offensive content.
- Near-Zero false positives. They keep a human in the loop to physically monitor filtered content.
The end result: less than .01% false positives, with spam block rates greater than 98%.
Together, Datacon and Red Condor can help you significantly reduce the number of unwanted emails clogging your inbox. Give us a call if you would like to have more information about this simple and inexpensive solution.
