CDA Meeting Wrap-Up
by Brian Benefield
We were happy that so many of you stopped by to see us at September’s CDA Meeting in San Francisco. 2009 has been a tremendous year in terms of Datacon software development, and it is exciting to demonstrate the latest features to our valued clients in person. If you weren’t able to attend and haven’t seen version 3.6 in action, soon you’ll be able to watch a video on our website (www.datacondental.com/support) that highlights the new features.
Coinciding with Datacon’s new clinical tools, there were an abundance of questions regarding adding workstations in the back office. With our ability to integrate with the digital x-ray system of your choice, combined with our technicians’ wealth of experience in operatory installations, Datacon can assist you from start to finish.
As always, we held a raffle at the Datacon booth, but this year’s prize was more valuable than ever: training! With so many new tools at your disposal, it made sense to offer free training to the winners. Congratulations to the following clients for winning two hours of free training via the Internet:
- Drs. Steigner and Ramos
- Dr. John Herschleb
- Dr. Justin Chapman
- Dr. Henry Kitajima
- Dr. Chris Thompson
- Dr. Jeffrey Gressard
- Dr. Ariane Terlet
We also held a raffle for non-Datacon clients who visited our booth. Congratulations to Dr. Jamie Sahouria of Rohnert Park who won a new iPod!

Claris i310D Intra Oral Camera
by Duane de Long
SOTA Precision Optics, Inc. has been the provider for some of the best selling and award winning intraoral cameras for over a decade. The Claris i310D integrates the intraoral camera with state of the art Sony CCD (Charged Couple Device), and microchip technology.
The direct plug-in USB eliminates the need for a docking station. All of this at a very affordable price. Portability plays an essential role in dental operatories so the detachable hand piece weighing in at only 2.4 oz gives users a comforting experience when having to move around from room to room. There is no capture card or additional hardware needed to seamlessly connect to any PC.
Stop by our booth at the September CDA in San Francisco and test drive the award winning intraoral camera from SOTA Optical.

Anaheim CDA Convention Wrap up
By Brian Benefield
Another CDA convention has come and gone, and it was a terrific success yet again. Clients from North and South visited our booth and were able to see the latest developments of the Datacon software. Version 3.6 continues its rapid evolution and visitors got a sneak peek at the newest features. Recently added to the new charting area is a tool allowing you to enter existing restorations. This tool is a true milestone in the development of the Datacon system.
Those who hadn’t seen v3.6 were able to navigate the tooth charting area with its new, easy to use layout, and improved graphics. They also saw a multitude of updates to the scheduler, a customizable main menu, and an area to easily enter and review a patient’s medical history.
The updated software created quite a buzz and we look forward to updating more and more offices in the coming weeks and months. To those of you unable to make it, we hope to see you in San Francisco in September!
